It is with great regret that Quilts, Inc. announces today that the International Quilt Festival—scheduled to be held July 9-11 in Long Beach, California—has been postponed.
We have received word from the Long Beach Convention Center’s management that the facility will remain closed until Labor Day. In addition, Governor Gavin Newsom has stated that California is currently in “Stage 2” of their reopening plan. Convention Centers, Concerts, and Sporting Events all fall into the “Stage 4” category, which he adds is “months away” from occurring. Thus, it is highly unlikely that mass gatherings will be allowed in the state this summer.
We are currently working on potential dates for a summer 2021 show at the same location. All enrollees who have already paid their registration and class fees for 2020 will have the option for a full refund at this time, or to keep their registration as is for next year and will receive an email with details. Exhibitors will receive a separate communication about their booth fees.
While we are certainly disappointed that International Quilt Festival’s return to the west coast has been put on hold, we know that the health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors, teachers, and staff are of the highest importance. We hope to see everyone back in California next year! In the meantime, stay safe and keep quilting!
