Show Producer Quilts, Inc. announced today that the 2022 spring edition of International Quilt Market, scheduled for April 12-14 (with classes/events beginning April 11) at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been postponed.
“This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make, especially as our last in-person Quilt Market was held over two years ago,” said Karey Bresenhan, President/CEO of Quilts, Inc. and Founder/Director Emeritus of International Quilt Market.
“But after consultation with the industry leaders in our Quilt Market Advisory Council, our own Executive Committee, and feedback from exhibitors and retailers, it became clear that there are extenuating circumstances related to this Market. The surge of COVID, travel hesitancy, staffing shortages, and supply chain blockages are all unfortunately still relevant issues today. And we would not want to produce a show that does not live up to the level of expectation our attendees and exhibitors have of us, or that we have of ourselves.”
Founded in 1979 (with spring editions beginning in 1981), International Quilt Market is the only trade show dedicated to the quilting and soft crafts industry. Wholesalers, manufacturers, fabric companies, and designers meet and conduct business with store owners, quilting sewing/teachers, and industry professionals. Market features an exhibitor hall, business and technique classes, a sample spree, and a day of Schoolhouse Sessions dedicated to showcasing new products.
The next International Quilt Market will take place October 29-31 (with classes and events beginning on October 27) at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Fall Quilt Market will have several new added features and experiences on the show floor, along with additional opportunities for connection and networking. It will also feature the affiliated Threads of Success conference geared toward those new to the industry or who want to break into it.
The next spring Quilt Market in 2023 will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…and look for some new twists as we are planning a revamped spring event!
