Please join us for a day visiting local shops and historic areas for inspiration as well as shopping. Multiple buses depart from and return to the convention center. Price includes transportation, all entrance and/or entertainment fees, lunch, tour guide, and gratuities..

 

700. TEXAS QUILT MUSEUM, Festival Hill, and Quilt Shops TOUR  $131

Housed in two historic 1890’s buildings, The Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, provides a fine showcase for both antique and contemporary quilt art. Nearby, guests will also find great shopping at Quilted Skein and delicious cuisine at Celebrations by Bistro 108. Then it’s on to Festival Hill in historic Round Top, this 210-acre campus contains performance facilities, historic homes and gardens. Guests on this tour will be able to stop and shop at an amazing Katy location shop - Sew Special Quilts has Bernina and Baby Lock sewing machines, a selection of colorful fabrics, and a wide array of notion and tools. Also offered as 202 on Tuesday and 402 on Thursday. Do not enroll for more than one.

Indigo and Shibori go together like bacon and eggs—both can be enjoyed separately, but they work wonders together! First learn all about Indigo—its history, chemistry, and how to use it as a dye. Then explore at least four different Shibori techniques over three categories of traditional processes. Dye will be rinsed out at home.

Supplies–Sewing Needles; Neutral Sewing Thread; Wear Apron or Old Clothes; ball of string; twenty to thirty small elastic bands; dinner sz disposable plastic plate; dozen plastic clothes pins (to use and throw away); plastic gloves (opt); four to six lg Ziploc bags; bucket or lg plastic basin or heavy duty garbage bag to carry everything home. Fabric: four to six FQs white cotton homespun or PFD cut into FQs.

 It’s Quilt Festival’s big bash to end the anniversary week. Come celebrate with all your quilting friends–old and new–at this fun food and dance party! Enjoy a buffet dinner featuring Texas BBQ as the main dish (a cash bar will also be available) while you shake your groove thing in the ballroom to the sounds of classic rock/pop/disco/country by cover band the Spiffingtons (returning again this year!). It’s a perfect way to (almost) end your visit to Houston and to Festival!
