300. LET ME SURPRISE YOU!  *$188

The class you have been waiting for—designed just for the Chicago Quilt Festival where a pre-cut fabric kit will be waiting for you to start sewing within 30 minutes from the start of class. Since all the fabric is cut, you don't have many supplies to bring and the promise of a great time makes this the class to take! This is a mystery kit so no hints, just fun! Photo is representative only. Fabrics and design will vary. If you have taken another class from Angotti, please bring Show & Tell of quilt you have from that class.

301. THE OTHER MYSTERY (Progressive Class
3 of 3)  *$188

This final mystery in our Progressive series promises to include traditional and innovative techniques useful to any quilter. A fully pre-cut kit means minimal supplies with maximum design possibilities! Enjoy the journey. Photo is representative of a previous Progressive project. Fabrics and design will vary. Progressive Class—this class may be taken singularly or in conjunction with Charlotte Angotti’s #100 on Thursday and/or Debbie Caffrey-Batey’s #200 on Friday. You may enroll for one, two, or three.

302. FEATHER FOUNDATIONS—LONGARM
HANDS-ON  *$119

No more awkward feathers! Learn how drawing the feather is the first step in mastering this timeless quilting design. Enjoy an abundance of feather varieties in this in-depth, hands-on class as you explore every aspect of creating a beautiful feather plume—intricate feather fills, allover bread-and-butter designs, and modern to traditional styles. Leave with a design book filled with feathered designs.

303. MYSTICAL BLOCKS AND BORDERS—LONGARM HANDS-ON  *$119

Blocks and borders are present in almost all of our quilts and often give us the most trouble. Learn Wallen's way to divide and conquer this everyday foe as you learn to use all of his tricks, from no-math layout to time-saving ruler work, that will take your confidence and quilting to the next level. This class applies to all levels of longarm, midarm, shortarm, and home machine users.

304. GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER XXVIII
(#28 - WOW!) *$49

Join Debbie Caffrey-Batey in a new mystery class designed for the 2018 Quilt Festival/Chicago. Her mystery classes are loads of fun and you always learn some great tips and techniques.

305. REPAIR AND RESTORATION OF OLD QUILTS  $45

306. CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL WINDOW  *$65

Complete a modern version of the classic Cathedral Window quilt block by using Paintstiks, stamps, and fusible backed shapes arranged on a background fabric. Learn a no-fail, easy-to-assemble technique that requires no curved edge piecing. If you can color, cut, and fuse, you can do this!

307. PAINTED TINY QUILTS  *$59

These miniature quilts look difficult, but couldn't be easier! They are painted, not pieced, using opaque paints and pens. Fast and fun, your friends won't believe what you accomplished in a short time. Precision points are much easier with a brush than a sewing machine. Fabric Painting with Cindy Walter, C&T (opt).

308. CURVING TO GREATNESS—LONGARM
HANDS-ON  *$119

Rulers, templates, and curves, oh my! Rulers can open a whole new world of endless design possibilities by facilitating the creation of amazing secondary designs. Take curves—curves are so forgiving yet always striking! Combine straight line designs with curves to create new extraordinary combinations. Rulers and templates provided for use in class.

309. MYSTICAL ILLUSIONS—LONGARM HANDS-ON  *$119

Breathe new life into your surface quilting—from adding texture, creating positive and negative space, trapunto, and so much more. Bring your images of people and animals to life as you learn the art of realistic thread painting. Wallen will fill your mind with what it takes to create those modern day illusions that will take your quilting to new heights. This class applies to all levels of longarm, midarm, shortarm, and home machine users.

AFTERNOON CLASSES

310. PERFECT & PAINLESS PINE TREES  *$61

Imagine making perfect half-square triangle units with strip-piecing, no paper to tear, no lines to draw, no pressing of individual units, and no dog ears to trim. You will no longer dread or avoid projects with many small HSTs! The kit makes two Pine Tree blocks (colors will vary from sample photo).

311. CREATE A PATTERN FROM YOUR FAVORITE
PHOTO  *$60

Your favorite photo—be it a person, a place, or an object—
can be beautifully translated into fabric! Learn the steps
from photo, to pattern, to quilt. Enhance perspective and depth, proportionately enlarge the drawing from the photo(s) and incorporate multiple photos in one design. Learn about value and practice on a provided photo to identify shapes, create the pattern, and value-lize it for easy fabric selection. Review your photos, discuss composition, and many other helpful topics.

312. CONQUERING THE SHAPES OF HAND APPLIQUÉ  *$55

313. BLACK, WHITE, AND TANGLED  *$60

You say you can't draw a stick figure? Well, I can't sew a stitch! None of that will matter after this fun, creative class. Explore the basics of the Art of Zentangle® on paper and fabric. Create a paper quilt using simple shapes, a glue stick, and black and white pens. Leave with a completed piece of artwork and lots of ideas for creating with paper or fabric.

315. THE LAST COURSE! $15

Whoever said, “Life is short, eat dessert first,” certainly knew quilters! Grab that fork and dig in as you indulge in a bit of sinful sweetness, enhanced by a cash bar, fun and games, door prizes, and lots of camaraderie.

 

If you have taken classes, bring your project for an enjoyable Show & Tell. There will be a special unveiling of the entire Progressive Class quilt project as planned and executed by faculty members, Charlotte Angotti, Debbie Caffrey-Batey, and Karen K. Stone.
